Brown Girl Rise is born out of collaboration within our community.
Our collaborators are valuable to us because together we create a web of connection and support for youth and all communities of color within Portland, Oregon.
All of our collaborators have given us the opportunity to expand our outreach, enrich our programming, and create long-lasting connections for youth that extend beyond what Brown Girl Rise provides alone.

Portland Children’s Levy
BGR is a proud grant recipient of Portland Children’s Levy (PCL), a City of Portland initiative funded by Portland voters that supports community-based programs to help prepare children for school, support them to be successful in and out of school, and eliminate racial and ethnic disparities.
Metro - Nature In Neiborhoods Grant
BGR is a proud recipient of the Metro Nature In Neighborhoods grant, which supports community projects and programs across the region, from local park improvements to stream restoration to hands-on nature education for people of all ages and backgrounds, thanks to the investment of Portland voters.
Feed’em freedom foundation
Feed’em Freedom Foundation (FFF) ignites and centers Black Agriculturists to participate as owners and movement leaders within agriculture, land stewardship, regional food security response, and economic prosperity.
The Rose City Rollers serve women, girls, and gender-expansive individuals who want to play the team sport of roller derby, connect with an inclusive community, and realize their power both on and off skates.
Wild Diversity helps to create a personal connection to the outdoors for black, indigenous, BIPOC & the LGBTQ+ communities, through outdoor adventures and education.
Portland Parks Foundation is devoted to making sure the Portland Park’s system is accessible to all. Brown Girl Rise is proud to announce we are the 2024 recipients of the Joey Pope Award which celebrates organizations advancing accessibility and innovation in the parks system.
Prevention Through Liberation addresses societal and cultural forms of oppression that magnify risk factors within historically marginalized communities. In an effort to close this gap, the Oregon Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence’s Prevention Through Liberation project builds upon proven prevention principles by supporting culturally-specific interventions and activities. Brown Girl Rise is the proud recipient of the 2023-2024 capacity-building grant.
